The Los Angeles Chargers have had their fair share of ups and downs since drafting edge rusher Joey Bosa at No. 3 overall in 2016. With only two postseason appearances and one playoff win in 2018, Bosa is hungry for more success.
Despite being sidelined for most of August with a broken hand, Bosa made a triumphant return to the practice field sporting a protective cast. However, he made it clear that he doesn’t plan on wearing it for long as he sets his sights on a singular goal.
“I just want to win games,” Bosa emphasized, expressing his desire for team success. He spoke to reporters, including Omar Navarro of the team’s website, about his eagerness to turn the Chargers into a serious contender. “I just want to go out there and finally put together one of those seasons as a team that’s like, we’re serious. We’ve had some good years, but I just feel like we have left a lot out there over the years.”
Excitement radiated from Bosa as he discussed the team’s energy and camaraderie. “I’m just excited,” he exclaimed. “I can’t really pick one thing that I’m optimistic about. I just feel like we’re playing with a lot of energy, and you saw that last weekend with the backups in there. I think that trickles up to everybody on the whole defense and the whole team.”
Despite only playing 14 games in the last two seasons, Bosa has proven to be a force to be reckoned with when on the field. In 2020, he recorded 6.5 sacks, six tackles for loss, a fumble, and a fumble recovery, showcasing his impact on the Chargers’ defense.
As Bosa looks ahead to the upcoming season, he remains focused and determined to lead his team to victory. With his sights set on success, Bosa is ready to prove that the Chargers are a force to be reckoned with in the NFL.
