Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett has been sidelined for over two weeks due to a leg injury, but he remains determined to take the field in Sunday’s season opener. Lockett expressed his confidence in playing, stating, “Unless you know something I don’t.”
Despite not participating in the preseason and receiving limited reps in training camp within a new offensive system, Lockett remains unfazed. Sporting a strap over his left knee, he explained that his absence was precautionary in order to address some lingering issues without risking further injury. Lockett commended the team’s athletic training staff for their efforts in managing his recovery.
As he enters his 10th NFL season, Lockett is among a select group of players on the Seahawks roster with at least a decade of experience. He joins a talented wide receiver corps featuring DK Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Jake Bobo, providing offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb with a myriad of options.
Reflecting on his career, Lockett noted the frequent turnover of offensive coordinators throughout his time in the league. He shared, “It’s been interesting because I think every three years I’ve had a new offensive coordinator… it’s allowed me to approach the game differently and learn unique ways to utilize my skills.”
In the 2020 season, Lockett fell short of reaching 1,000 receiving yards for the first time since 2018, finishing with 894 yards and five touchdowns on 79 receptions. Despite this, he remains a key figure in the Seahawks’ offense and is eager to contribute to their success in the upcoming season.
