Star wide receiver Chase is still missing from practice as contract negotiations with the Bengals continue to drag on.
Rumors swirl that Chase is holding out for a deal that would surpass Jefferson’s massive contract, worth $140 million over four years. If successful, this would make him the highest-paid receiver in NFL history.
In response, Jefferson expressed support for his former teammate, saying, “I hope that he gets the contract that he’s looking for, but I also hope that he plays it smart and not let it get in the way of, you know, his greatness and being on that field.”
Reflecting on their time together at LSU, Jefferson added, “We always talked about that in the receiving room at LSU, saying that we were able to be on that same platform as some of the top guys that were in the league while we were watching the film at LSU. So to see it all come up, come to life and for us to fulfill our dreams is definitely heartwarming.”
While a record-breaking contract for Chase seems inevitable, concerns linger about his availability for the Bengals’ season opener against the Patriots. His continued absence from practice due to the ongoing negotiations puts his status for the game in jeopardy.
As fans eagerly await Chase’s return and a resolution to the contract stalemate, all eyes are on the talented receiver who could soon become the highest-paid player in NFL history.
