San Francisco 49ers General Manager John Lynch made it clear that the team is expecting wide receiver Ricky Pearsall to make a return this season despite the unfortunate incident of him getting shot in the chest last Saturday. However, due to his placement on the non-football injury list, it will be at least four games before Pearsall can hit the field.
But on Thursday, head coach Kyle Shanahan shed some light on the roadmap for Pearsall’s comeback. Although Pearsall has been present at the team facility in recent days, Shanahan mentioned that physical activity is not on the immediate agenda for him just yet.
“He’s attending meetings and keeping up with everything. He wants to take it easy for a while, maybe a week or so, before starting his rehabilitation and gradually working his way back,” Shanahan stated in a press conference.
Despite the cautious approach, Shanahan revealed that initially Pearsall expressed his desire to suit up against the Jets this Monday. It seems like Pearsall is eager to return to action sooner rather than later, adhering to medical advice.
This setback will surely test Pearsall’s resilience, but with the support of the coaching staff and his strong determination, there is hope to see him back on the field showcasing his skills soon. The 49ers will rely on their depth at the wide receiver position in the meantime, but having Pearsall back will undoubtedly be a boost to the team. Stay tuned for more updates on Pearsall’s road to recovery in the coming weeks.
