Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver, Rome Odunze, is gearing up for his NFL debut with an unexpected excitement. When asked what he was most looking forward to in his first game, Odunze surprised everyone with his response.
Instead of mentioning wearing the classic Bears uniform, catching passes from fellow rookie Caleb Williams, or his family witnessing his dream come true, Odunze revealed that he is most eager about a pair of planes. Yes, you read that right – planes!
Odunze expressed his anticipation for the pregame flyover from a pair of EA-18 Growlers, stating, “In college, you’re always in the locker room for the national anthem and the flyover. I’m a big fan of fighter jets. I’ll finally get to see that.”
Although this may seem like an unconventional answer, it showcases Odunze’s unique interests and adds to his charm as a player. Coming off an All-American season at Washington in 2023, Odunze was drafted by the Bears as the No. 9 pick in the first round of the 2024 draft, following the selection of Caleb Williams as the top pick.
The Bears are aiming to establish an elite quarterback-receiver duo with Odunze and Williams, who already showed promise during a preseason play where they connected for a 45-yard pass. Fans are eagerly anticipating their debut in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans, hoping to witness the duo’s potential come to fruition on the field.
Odunze’s enthusiasm for the flyover adds an element of excitement to his debut, highlighting his eagerness to experience every aspect of the NFL game day atmosphere. Fans can expect an entertaining and passionate performance from Odunze as he takes the field for the first time in his NFL career.
