Linebacker Terrel Bernard suffered a pectoral injury, but fear not Buffalo Bills fans, his season is not over just yet. Head coach Sean McDermott confirmed the news on Friday, stating that Bernard will be sidelined for multiple weeks due to a strain. While the team is still deliberating whether to place him on injured reserve, it appears likely that Bernard will be placed on the list.
McDermott addressed the situation, acknowledging the unfortunate setback, “Unfortunately, he’s going to be out multiple weeks…We’re talking about whether or not it’s an IR conducive type of situation or not. I’m aware of the report, and we still have some internal conversations that we have to have to determine if it’s going to end up in IR or not.”
Bernard had only played 14 snaps in Thursday night’s game before exiting with his injury. As a team captain, he has recorded 13 total tackles so far this season. In his absence, McDermott mentioned that Baylon Spector is likely to step into the starting role. Spector had an impressive performance against the Dolphins, tallying 10 tackles including a tackle for loss in 62 snaps.
The Bills are now facing yet another injury concern at the linebacker position, as Matt Milano has been sidelined since August with a torn biceps. The team will need to rely on their depth and adjust accordingly to maintain their defensive strength moving forward.
