In a pivotal matchup against the Miami Dolphins, James Cook shined for the Buffalo Bills, scoring two crucial touchdowns to help his team secure a 17-7 lead in the first half. The running back first found the end zone on a 17-yard pass from star quarterback Josh Allen, showcasing his versatility and playmaking ability.
Cook’s second touchdown of the night came on a 1-yard run with just over six minutes remaining in the first half. Tyler Bass added the extra point to extend the Bills’ lead, much to the delight of the Buffalo faithful in attendance.
The Bills’ defense also played a significant role in building the lead, capitalizing on two interceptions thrown by Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Ja’Marcus Ingram and Christian Benford came up with the picks, setting up short fields for the Bills to score a 37-yard touchdown drive and a 19-yard field goal drive.
Not everything went smoothly for Buffalo, however, as safety Jordan Poyer was flagged for a personal foul on a helmet-to-helmet hit on Dolphins receiver Khalil Shakir. The penalty gave the Bills a boost on their subsequent scoring drive, as they marched 85 yards down the field in eight plays.
Despite the penalties, Cook continued to be a focal point of the Bills’ offense, tallying four carries for 11 yards and one reception for 17 yards. Meanwhile, Allen was efficient under center, completing 9 of 13 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown.
As the game reached halftime, the Bills held a comfortable lead over their division rivals, thanks in large part to the contributions of Cook, Allen, and the opportunistic defense. With momentum on their side, Buffalo looked poised to secure a crucial victory in the AFC East race.
