In a recent altercation, cornerback Nate Wiggins sustained a neck injury, ruling him out for the upcoming game on Sunday, as confirmed by head coach John Harbaugh during a press conference.
“Nate was in a car accident a couple of days ago,” Harbaugh stated. “Looks like he’s not gonna be able to make it to the game.”
Despite being sidelined due to the injury, Harbaugh reassured that Wiggins is otherwise in good health. “He’s fine. He’s healthy. He’s fine, but just not gonna be able to play,” Harbaugh added.
Wiggins, who was the Ravens’ 30th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, made his debut in Week 1, registering one tackle in their narrow loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
With Wiggins out, there is a gap in the Ravens’ secondary, and his availability for Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys remains uncertain.
Interestingly, Wiggins is not the only Ravens player this season to have been involved in a car accident. Tight end Mark Andrews also experienced a similar situation last month but fortunately escaped unscathed.
As the Ravens aim to rebound from their Week 1 loss and secure their first victory of the season against the Raiders, they will need to rely on other players to step up in Wiggins’ absence.
While Wiggins continues his recovery, his teammates are prepared to fill the void as the team navigates the early stages of the season.
