In a surprising turn of events, the Green Bay Packers’ starting quarterback Jordan Love has been deemed doubtful for Sunday’s highly anticipated game against the Indianapolis Colts. According to a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Love is not expected to take the field.
The Packers have devised a game plan that involves starting Malik Willis at quarterback and promoting Sean Clifford from the practice squad to serve as the backup on Sunday. With Love’s recent MCL sprain suffered in Week 1’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the team had been hopeful that he would recover in time to face the Colts. However, it seems that Love will have to sit out and give his knee more time to heal.
“Love’s health is our top priority, and we want to ensure he is fully recovered before putting him back in the game,” commented Packers coach Matt LaFleur. “Malik and Sean have been preparing diligently for this opportunity, and we have full confidence in their abilities.”
Malik Willis, entering his third season in the NFL, has limited experience as a starting quarterback with just three career starts during his rookie year with the Titans. His stats include completing 35 of 67 pass attempts for 350 yards and three interceptions.
The upcoming showdown between the Packers and the Colts is set to kick off at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. Football fans are eager to see how the Packers’ new quarterback duo will fare against a tough Colts defense. Stay tuned for more updates as game day approaches.
