The Los Angeles Rams faced a tough defeat at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals, with a final score of 41-10 on Sunday. Head coach Sean McVay was visibly frustrated with the outcome and was not interested in sugarcoating the loss.
After the Rams allowed 325 scrimmage yards and three passing touchdowns to Kyler Murray, McVay was pressed by reporters to find any positives in the defeat. His response was brutally honest and reflective of the disappointment felt by fans across the nation. “There’s nothing positive about it,” McVay declared. “The only positive thing is that this game is over now and we can move forward.”
It’s hard to argue with McVay’s assessment. The Rams were outplayed in nearly every facet of the game, giving up almost 500 yards of total offense while only mustering 245 yards themselves. Quarterback Matthew Stafford’s offense struggled to convert on third downs, managing to convert only 2 out of 11 attempts. To make matters worse, star receiver Cooper Kupp exited the game with an ankle injury and missed the entire second half.
Despite the disappointing performance, McVay remained resolute in his assessment. There was simply nothing to cheer about for the Rams in this game. No amount of positive spin could change the bleak reality of the situation.
In the aftermath of the lopsided loss, it’s clear that the Rams have some work to do in order to get back on track. Fans will be looking to McVay and his team to regroup and bounce back stronger in the games to come.
