The incident involving NFL player Tyreek Hill and Miami police has taken a dramatic turn as officer Danny Torres has been placed on administrative leave following his actions. Last Sunday, Hill was pulled out of his vehicle by police, taken to the ground, and detained in handcuffs before eventually being released to play in the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Miami police are currently investigating the incident, which has sparked controversy, and have decided to suspend officer Danny Torres, who was in charge of subduing Hill. In an interview with the Daily Mail newspaper, David Torres, brother of Danny Torres, defended his brother’s actions, stating that the sanction against him is unfair as he was only protecting himself from an alleged aggression.
“Officers have every right to protect themselves. And that is exactly what happened. They were protecting themselves,” David Torres stated. He claimed that Tyreek Hill assaulted the officers who stopped him before arriving at Hard Rock Stadium, leading the police to suspect he may have had a gun in his car.
“If you look at the video, he didn’t follow instructions from the beginning. He was yelling at the officer and telling him not to hit the window. If you know anything about dealing with police officers, you know not to open the window,” David Torres explained.
The situation has escalated further with David Torres declaring Tyreek Hill as a danger. “Tyreek Hill is a danger,” he stated, emphasizing his belief that the actions taken by the police were necessary for their own safety. The investigation into the incident is ongoing as the controversy surrounding the suspension of officer Danny Torres continues to unfold.
