The Tennessee Titans came out strong in the first half of their game against the New York Jets, but a couple of costly turnovers by quarterback Will Levis allowed the Jets to stay in the game.
Levis made a critical mistake when he lost a fumble on a risky backward flip while under pressure deep in Jets territory. This turnover set up the Jets for their first touchdown of the game. On the following drive, Levis threw an interception, giving the Jets another opportunity to capitalize. Despite these errors, Levis managed to lead the Titans on a field goal drive just before halftime, giving them a narrow 10-7 lead.
Despite the turnovers, Levis showed promise as he completed 11 of 13 passes for 115 yards in the first half. The Titans also outgained the Jets 152-93 in total yards, showing their dominance on the field.
The Titans also benefited from a couple of personal fouls by the Jets, one of which helped set up a field goal by kicker Nick Folk as time expired in the first half.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a solid first half, going 10-of-15 for 82 yards and connecting with rookie running back Braelon Allen for a touchdown. This scoring drive was a positive sign for the Jets after starting the game with three consecutive punts.
As the Titans look to maintain their lead in the second half, they will need their defense to step up, especially if Levis can limit his turnovers. Linebacker C.J. Mosley exited the game with a foot injury and is questionable to return, which could impact the defense’s performance moving forward.
Overall, the Titans showed flashes of brilliance in the first half, but they will need to tighten up their game in order to secure a win against the Jets.
