The Jacksonville Jaguars have had a tough start to the 2024 season, dropping games to the Miami Dolphins and the Cleveland Browns. Although they had a chance to pull off a win against the Browns, their offense struggled early on. Star quarterback Trevor Lawrence had a rough start, only completing 5 of 11 passes for 16 yards in the first half.
Despite finishing with 220 passing yards, Lawrence took a crucial sack in the end zone for a safety late in the game, forcing the Jaguars to need a touchdown instead of a field goal to tie the game. Head coach Doug Pederson expressed his surprise at the lack of execution on offense, stating, “Yeah, I mean, it’s not who we are. Guys, coaches, players work too hard during the week.”
Pederson acknowledged the strength of the Browns’ defense, calling it “one of the best in the league.” He emphasized the need for consistency and improvement, noting that there is talent on the team but it hasn’t been fully utilized. The Jaguars have now lost seven of their last eight games, dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, the Jaguars will face the undefeated Buffalo Bills next Monday night in Buffalo. It will be another challenging matchup for Jacksonville as they strive to turn their season around and secure a much-needed victory.
