The Kansas City Chiefs have found themselves in a bit of a predicament with Isiah Pacheco out due to a fractured fibula. However, it seems like they may have a solution in the form of a familiar face.
Reports have been circulating that Kareem Hunt, a former Chiefs running back, is scheduled to meet with the team on Tuesday. Hunt, who was drafted by Kansas City in the third round back in 2017, had a stellar rookie season where he led the league in rushing yards with 1,327. Not only that, but he also proved to be a threat in the passing game with 53 receptions for 455 yards.
Unfortunately, Hunt’s time with the Chiefs came to an abrupt end in 2018 when the team decided to waive him after a video surfaced showing him pushing and kicking a woman. This led to an eight-game suspension for him when he signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2019.
Despite the controversy surrounding him, Hunt managed to put up decent numbers in Cleveland, tallying 411 rushing yards and nine touchdowns in the 2023 season. Throughout his career, he has accumulated 4,436 rushing yards, 40 touchdowns, and 226 receptions for 1,890 yards and 17 TDs in 91 games.
The potential reunion between Hunt and the Chiefs has sparked a lot of interest and speculation among fans and analysts. It remains to be seen whether Kansas City will decide to bring back the talented but controversial running back to help bolster their ground game in Pacheco’s absence.
As Hunt himself once said, “I know I made a mistake, and I’m willing to face the consequences and make amends. I just want to get back on the field and show what I can do.” Could this be his chance for redemption in the league? Only time will tell.
