Crain’s Detroit Business broke the news on Wednesday, revealing the unfortunate circumstances that led to Campbell’s decision to part ways with his current residence.
The leak of Campbell’s address came in the aftermath of numerous losses by the Lions in the past year, culminating in a heartbreaking 34–31 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC championship game back in January. FOX 2 Detroit reported that Campbell and his family were subjected to pranks and other forms of harassment, prompting the Detroit coach to file multiple police reports in an effort to protect his loved ones.
Speaking out about the situation, Campbell expressed his disappointment at having to sell his suburban Bloomfield Hills property, which sits on a spacious two-acre lot. “There’s plenty of space, it’s on two acres, the home is beautiful,” Campbell remarked. “It’s just that people figured out where we lived when we lost.”
The 7,800-square-foot home, originally built in 2013 for Hall of Fame NHL center Igor Larionov, was swiftly put on the market for a hefty $4.5 million earlier this week. Despite the steep price tag, a deal was already pending within 24 hours, with the anticipated buyers reported to be avid Lions fans by realtor Ashley Crain, who was enlisted to aid Campbell in his relocation efforts.
Thankfully, Campbell and his family have successfully settled into their new abode, escaping the unwanted attention and reclaiming their privacy. Real estate agent Crain expressed her relief at the swift sale and relocation, wishing the best for the Campbell family. “I feel happy for them that they can have that privacy,” Crain said. “And I would hope all the fans out there love him enough and they give him that privacy, and their family too.”
