In a shocking turn of events, the Jets are showing signs of true promise with their newfound star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
The typically lackluster Jets offense has come alive under Rodgers’ leadership, with three offensive touchdowns in the first three games – a feat not seen since way back in 1989. And to top it off, the Jets managed to completely dominate the Patriots with a decisive 24-3 victory, marking their first home win against New England since 2015.
With this impressive win, the Jets now boast a 2-1 record while the Patriots fall to 1-2, a surprising turn of events given the historical rivalry between the two teams.
Rodgers put on a clinic, completing 27 of 35 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns. His connection with eight different receivers, including standout Tyler Conkin who had five receptions for 93 yards, kept the Patriots defense on their toes all game.
The run game was also a force to be reckoned with, as Breece Hall punched in a 1-yard touchdown and both Hall and Braelon Allen contributed over 50 yards rushing each.
The Jets’ defense also shone brightly, outgaining the Patriots 400 to 139 in total yardage. The rookie quarterback Drake Maye even made an appearance in his NFL debut, leading the Patriots on a 46-yard drive before ultimately falling short.
The Jets defense was relentless, recording seven sacks in the game with standout performances from Will McDonald and Chuck Clark. Even though veteran Jacoby Brissett struggled under the pressure, DeMario Douglas managed to lead the Patriots with seven catches for 69 yards.
All in all, it seems like the Jets might just have something special in Aaron Rodgers. If he can continue to lead the team in this fashion, the Jets could be a force to be reckoned with in the NFL.
