The Cincinnati Bengals are off to a rocky 0-2 start this season, but they are about to receive a much-needed boost with the return of wide receiver Tee Higgins. Higgins confirmed to reporters on Friday that he will be back on the field on Monday against the Washington Commanders.
“I’m back,” Higgins stated confidently, assuring fans that he is at 100% fitness. The 25-year-old receiver has been dealing with a hamstring injury, which has kept him sidelined for a significant portion of this month. His last appearance in an NFL game was on New Year’s Eve against the Kansas City Chiefs, where he managed to catch a single pass for 19 yards in a 25-17 loss.
Since being drafted by the Bengals as the 33rd overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft, Higgins has been a key offensive weapon for the team. He has averaged an impressive 75 catches, seven touchdowns, and 1,080 yards per 17 games. His return comes at a critical time for the Bengals as they aim to turn their season around after a disappointing start.
The Bengals, who reached the AFC title game in 2021 and were contenders again in 2022, have struggled in the early part of the 2024 season. They suffered a narrow 16-10 defeat to the New England Patriots in their opener and were edged out 26-25 by the Chiefs in their second game.
With Higgins back in the lineup, the Bengals will be looking to reignite their offense and get back on track as they face off against the Commanders. His presence on the field is sure to provide a much-needed spark for a team looking to recapture their winning ways.
