In a thrilling showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New Orleans Saints, tight end Dallas Goedert shone with a massive reception that left fans on the edge of their seats. Although he couldn’t quite make it to the end zone, his performance was nothing short of spectacular.
Goedert found himself with open field in front of him, but unfortunately, he was chased down by members of the Saints’ defense before reaching the goal line. Eagles offensive lineman Jordan Mailata, who witnessed the play firsthand, couldn’t contain his disappointment at seeing Goedert get caught.
Wearing a mic during the play, Mailata’s on-field reaction was pure entertainment. “Go son. Go son. Go son! Unhook the trailer! Unhook the trailer! G–damn it!” he exclaimed. “Dallas you slow m———–! I’m sorry. I’m happy, I promise.”
Despite falling just short of a touchdown, Goedert’s reception for 61 yards was the longest of his career. The only thing that would have made the play sweeter was crossing the goal line for six points, but alas, he was brought down at the four-yard line.
The 29-year-old tight end enjoyed a career night in the narrow Week 3 victory. He hauled in 10 receptions for 170 yards, setting new personal bests in both categories. While Goedert may have been disappointed about not adding a touchdown to his impressive stat line, it seems that Mailata felt even more let down by the near-miss.
