CeeDee Lamb, the dynamic receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, faced the music after his team’s tough loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Rather than shying away from the spotlight, Lamb took the opportunity to address his frustrations head-on in his first media interview following the game.
“Honestly, I have to be truthful to myself,” Lamb candidly admitted, as reported by Joseph Hoyt of alldlls.com. “I played a part in that loss. A big part, honestly. My body language nor my attitude approaching the situation helped the situation or the outcome of the game.”
During the game, Lamb’s emotions got the best of him, leading to an outburst directed at receivers coach Robert Prince, right guard Zack Martin, and quarterback Dak Prescott. The incident was caught by Fox cameras, prompting commentary from broadcaster Tom Brady on Lamb’s visible frustration.
Despite catching four passes for 67 yards and losing a crucial fumble in the red zone, Lamb took full responsibility for his performance. “I expect a lot out of myself, more than anyone could put on me,” he explained to Patrik Walker of the team website. “And quite honestly, I failed myself, and obviously I failed the team, just as far as producing and being that game-breaker. . . . I kind of let the game get to my head a little bit. Honestly, I’ve got to be truthful to myself, and I played a part in that loss, a big part, honestly, and [neither] my body language nor attitude, [helped change] the outcome of the game.”
Despite missing the offseason program and training camp due to contract negotiations, Lamb dismissed any notion that his slow start this season was a result of his absence from team activities. He currently boasts 13 receptions on 24 targets for 218 yards and a touchdown, but he and Prescott acknowledge that their connection on the field has not been as sharp as they’d like.
“Our relationship, if anything, has gotten stronger,” Lamb emphasized regarding his bond with Prescott. “Don’t let what’s out there fool you. We’re brothers to the end. We know that we’re all we got. I tip my hat to him. I have the utmost respect for him. I look at him as a brother. So with that being said, everything is going to come out: the energy, the passion, the love, the fight, and then we’ll make up in the end. No craziness now.”
After re-watching the game, Lamb recognized the areas where he fell short and is determined to bounce back stronger in the next game. The Cowboys will rely on his talent and determination as they aim to turn things around and secure victories moving forward.
