The injury bug continues to bite the Houston Texans as they gear up to take on the Buffalo Bills this weekend. The Texans’ injury report grew on Thursday, with a number of key players either limited or missing practice.
Offensive tackle Tytus Howard was limited with a hamstring issue, while receiver Robert Woods and offensive tackle Blake Fisher did not practice due to a foot injury and illness, respectively. Running backs Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce remained sidelined with ankle and hamstring injuries, while defensive end Derek Barnett sat out with a shoulder issue.
Defensive end Jerry Hughes and linebacker Jake Hansen were both downgraded to non-participants, adding to the Texans’ woes. On a slightly positive note, offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil was upgraded to limited after missing practice on Wednesday.
Receiver Tank Dell, offensive lineman Juice Scruggs, and safety Jimmie Ward all remained limited with various ailments. Defensive tackle Kurt Hinish and defensive end Dylan Horton were both full participants, providing a glimmer of hope for the Texans’ defense.
The Texans will have to navigate a minefield of injuries as they prepare to face a tough Bills team, hoping that some of their key players can recover in time for the game. In the words of Texans head coach, “We’ll see how these guys progress and make decisions based on their availability.”
