The Dallas Cowboys are facing some tough challenges with injuries striking key players in both their receiving corps and defensive line, prompting the need to bring in reinforcements from outside the team.
In an effort to bolster their roster, the Cowboys recently held workouts for several receivers and defensive ends. Among those who showcased their skills were Denzel Mims, Dante Pettis, Seth Williams, and Chad Cota on the receiving end, with quarterback Max Duggan zipping passes their way. On the defensive side, Luiji Vilain and Shaka Toney were put through the paces as potential solution to the team’s depth concerns.
According to Todd Archer of ESPN, the Cowboys have made moves to address these issues by agreeing to terms with Williams and Vilain. Additionally, the team is set to elevate veteran defensive end Carl Lawson from the practice squad to the 53-player roster.
The injury bug has hit Dallas hard, with defensive ends Sam Williams, Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Marshawn Kneeland all sidelined. Kneeland and Lawrence have been placed on injured reserve, with Parsons potentially set to return to action in Week 8 following the team’s bye in Week 7. While Kneeland and Lawrence are expected to make a comeback this season, unfortunately Williams won’t be able to do the same.
Adding to the woes, receiver Brandin Cooks finds himself on injured reserve as well, due to complications from a knee procedure which led to an infection. This setback was a factor in the team’s decision to sign Seth Williams in hopes of shoring up the depth at the receiver position.
Despite these challenges, the Cowboys are pushing forward and making the necessary adjustments to keep their season on track. With new faces joining the team and the hope of returning players in the near future, Dallas is determined to overcome adversity and continue their pursuit of success on the gridiron.
