In a recent roster shake up, the Carolina Panthers added two new players to their 53-man lineup this past Tuesday. Guard Cade Mays was brought in from the Giants’ practice squad, while linebacker Thomas Incoom was picked up from the Panthers’ own practice squad. This addition led to the release of running back Mike Boone, defensive tackle Jayden Peevy, and safety Russ Yeast.
Mays, a 2022 sixth-round pick by Carolina, previously moved on to the Giants during the offseason. His versatility in playing both guard and center will be crucial as center Austin Corbett remains sidelined for the rest of the season. Panthers head coach Quinn mentioned, “Mays brings a depth of experience and skill that we believe will be an asset to our team.”
Meanwhile, Incoom had been on the practice squad for the past two weeks before his promotion to the active roster. Coach Quinn expressed his satisfaction in Incoom’s progress during practices, stating, “We’re excited to see what Incoom can bring to our linebacking corps.”
With two open spots on the 53-man roster, and Corbett’s status still uncertain, the Panthers are not done making moves. Stay tuned for more roster updates as the season progresses. It’s clear that the Panthers are focused on building a competitive team that can make a run in the playoffs.
