In a surprising turn of events, Aaron Rodgers, quarterback for the New York Jets, shared his thoughts on the recent firing of head coach Robert Saleh. Rodgers, who is known for his candid interviews, did not disappoint during his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.
When asked by McAfee if Saleh’s departure blindsided him, Rodgers responded with a rather peculiar analogy. He compared the situation to a scene from a movie, saying, “It’s one of those things like in a John Wick movie, is the best way to equate it. Where John Wick becomes excommunicado and then everybody at the Continental’s phone starts vibrating. It was kind of like that.”
The comparison to the popular action franchise left many scratching their heads. One can only imagine the surprise on the faces of Keanu Reeves and the cast of John Wick: Chapter 2 when they learned that their scene had been likened to an NFL coach’s dismissal.
Despite the odd analogy, Rodgers made it clear that he had no hand in Saleh’s firing. “I had nothing to do with it,” he affirmed. It seems that the quarterback is content to focus on his own performance and leave the coaching decisions to the higher-ups.
As the Jets sit at a 2-3 record to start the 2024 NFL season, all eyes will be on Rodgers to see how he leads the team in the absence of Saleh. Time will tell if the departure of their head coach will have a positive or negative impact on the Jets’ performance moving forward.
