Indianapolis Colts owner, Jim Irsay, is not one to stay silent when his team is attacked, especially by the likes of Bill Belichick, the head coach of the New England Patriots. It all started when Belichick made some not-so-flattering comments about the Colts during an episode of ESPN’s ManningCast.
Belichick claimed that the Colts, specifically Peyton Manning, used to pump in crowd noise during games against the Patriots. He even mentioned a time when the noise skipped, implying that it was proof of the deception. Of course, there’s always video evidence to back up such claims, and Belichick was quick to provide it.
In response, Irsay took to social media, or as he put it, “X (formerly Twitter),” to defend his team’s honor. He made it clear that the accusation of “piped-in crowd noise” was nothing but a myth, completely fictional. He also explained that the “skip” that Belichick referred to was actually just an issue with the TV broadcast, not with any artificial noise being pumped into the stadium.
Irsay ended his statement by praising Colts fans for creating such a loud and intimidating atmosphere at their games, noting that even visiting teams couldn’t believe that only 60,000 fans in a domed stadium could make such a deafening roar. It was a subtle dig at Belichick’s insinuation that the noise level was somehow manufactured.
This back-and-forth between two titans of the football world is nothing new, but it always adds an extra layer of drama to the game. In the end, both sides will continue to defend their honor and integrity, as is expected in the cutthroat world of the NFL.
