Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave has officially been placed on injured reserve, the team announced on Friday. The reason for his placement on IR is a serious ankle injury that will keep him out of action for at least the next four games.
Musgrave was on the active roster for last week’s victory over the Los Angeles Rams, but he did not see any playing time. Following the game, he was limited in practice on Wednesday before the decision was made to shut him down for a period of time to allow for proper recovery.
In light of Musgrave’s injury, the Packers have brought in tight end John FitzPatrick from the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad to fill the void on the roster. FitzPatrick was a sixth-round pick by the Falcons in the 2022 NFL Draft and saw action in nine games last season, recording one catch for 12 yards.
Fortunately for the Packers, starting tight end Tucker Kraft has been removed from the practice report and is set to make his return to the lineup for this upcoming Sunday’s game. With only Ben Sims as his backup at the position, it is likely that FitzPatrick will be suited up and ready to play in support of Kraft during the game.
