Ultimately, the Buffalo Bills emerged victorious with a narrow 23-20 win over the New York Jets, improving their record to 4-2 while the Jets fell to 2-4.
The Jets, under the helm of interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich and play caller Todd Downing for the first time, will rue the missed opportunities that cost them the game. Kicker Greg Zuerlein’s missed field goals of 32 and 43 yards off the left upright in the second half proved to be crucial, as the Jets managed to score only one touchdown out of four red zone opportunities, totaling just 13 points.
The Jets had a final chance to mount a comeback with 1:52 left on the clock, but a series of big defensive plays by Taylor Rapp and Taron Johnson sealed the victory for the Bills. The turning point came when a miraculous 52-yard Hail Mary from Aaron Rodgers to Allen Lazard tied the game, but Zuerlein’s field goal was not enough to lift the Jets over the Bills.
