The Jacksonville Jaguars made headlines in August when they signed safety Tashaun Gipson, despite knowing that he would miss the first six games of the regular season. However, Gipson’s return to active duty has hit a bump in the road.
Gipson found himself suspended for six games due to a violation of the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy, leaving the Jaguars without his services for the first few weeks of the season. The Jaguars recently played their sixth game of the year, but Gipson has yet to be reinstated.
Head coach Doug Pederson addressed the situation in a Wednesday press conference, stating, “It’s a league thing, honestly. He’s still on the commissioner’s suspended list, we’re waiting on the league.” The uncertainty surrounding Gipson’s return has left many fans and teammates wondering when he might be cleared to rejoin the team.
This is not Gipson’s first time with the Jaguars, as he previously played for the team before spending the last two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. With the Jaguars sitting at a disappointing 1-5 record, the team could certainly use Gipson’s talents on the field. However, until he is reinstated, it remains unclear when he will be able to contribute to the team’s efforts on game day.
