The Dallas Cowboys, under the leadership of owner Jerry Jones, are currently sitting at a 3-3 record for the season. However, things took a turn for the worse on Tuesday when Jones found himself in hot water after a radio interview discussing the team’s recent loss to the Detroit Lions.
Jones started his day with a radio spot on 105.3 The FAN, where things quickly escalated as hosts Shan Shariff and RJ Choppy questioned the Cowboys’ offseason decisions. The conversation became heated, with Jones becoming defensive in response to the probing questions. After the interview, Jones found himself needing to do some damage control.
Later in the day, reporter Dianna Russini spoke to Jones about the incident, where he attempted to clarify his outburst. Jones stated, “I don’t know that I would go as far as (calling) the volume connotation as yelling. OK? But the facts are that if I’m going to be grilled by the tribunal, I don’t need it to be by the guys I’m paying.” Jones expressed his frustrations with the line of questioning and suggested that he would have responded differently if the questions had come from “real fans” or “football people.”
Despite the recent struggles and criticism, Jones has publicly supported head coach Mike McCarthy and confirmed that there will be no in-season coaching changes. The Cowboys, who are currently on a bye week, will return in Week 8 to face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football.
As the Cowboys look to bounce back from their recent loss and internal turmoil, all eyes will be on Jerry Jones and the team as they navigate the remainder of the season.
