In a season marred by inconsistent kicking, the Buffalo Bills have decided to make a change. With Tyler Bass struggling, the Bills have turned to a new kicker, Lucas Havrisik. The announcement came on Thursday as Buffalo signed Havrisik to their practice squad.
Havrisik, 25, brings a wealth of experience to the Bills after spending time with the Browns in the offseason and training camp. Last season, he showcased his skills in nine games for the Rams, converting on 15-of-20 field goals and 19-of-22 extra points.
The decision to bring in Havrisik comes after Bass had a rough outing in Monday night’s win over the Jets. Bass missed an extra point and a 47-yard field goal, prompting head coach Sean McDermott to express his concerns about the young kicker’s struggles.
Since taking over as Buffalo’s kicker in 2020, Bass has had his fair share of ups and downs. In the 2024 season, he has made 9-of-12 field goals and 18-of-20 extra points, but his recent performance has raised questions about his reliability.
In order to make room for Havrisik on the practice squad, the Bills made a corresponding move by releasing receiver Ahmarean Brown. It’s a clear indication that Buffalo is serious about addressing their kicking issues and finding stability at the position. As the Bills move forward with Havrisik in the mix, all eyes will be on how he performs and whether he can provide the consistency that has been lacking in Buffalo’s kicking game.
