In a recent update on the injury front for the Arizona Cardinals, there appears to be some positive news coming out of their camp. According to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN, head coach Jonathan Gannon addressed the media during his Thursday press conference and provided some insight into the status of injured players.
One of the key updates involves wide receiver Marvin Harrison, who has been in the concussion protocol since suffering a head injury during the first half of the Cardinals’ Week 6 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Coach Gannon announced that Harrison will be returning to practice, giving fans hope that he may be available for the upcoming game. With the Cardinals not playing until Monday night, Harrison has an extra day to recover from his concussion.
However, Harrison will be limited to no-contact drills during Thursday’s session as he continues to progress through the league’s concussion protocol. Despite the setback, Harrison, the No. 4 overall pick in this year’s draft, has already made an impact on the field with 17 receptions for 279 yards and four touchdowns.
On the other hand, there was less encouraging news regarding defensive lineman Bilal Nichols, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a stinger he suffered in the latest game. Coach Gannon revealed that the team conducted multiple tests before deciding to shut Nichols down for the year, a disappointing blow for the Cardinals.
In more injury updates, kicker Matt Prater is expected to make his return from injured reserve after being placed on the list earlier this week. Additionally, there is optimism surrounding right tackle Jonah Williams, with Gannon mentioning there is a “good chance” he will make a comeback at some point in 2024.
With a matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers looming on Monday, the Cardinals will release their first injury report of the week later on Thursday, providing further clarity on the status of key players heading into the game. Stay tuned for more updates as the week progresses.
