The Indianapolis Colts are gearing up for a big game, with quarterback Anthony Richardson set to make his return after missing two games due to an oblique injury. However, the team will be without star running back Jonathan Taylor, who will miss his third game with an ankle injury.
Head coach Frank Reich confirmed the news, stating, “We will definitely be without Jonathan for this game. It’s tough to not have him out there, but we have full confidence in our other running backs to step up and fill the void.”
In addition to Taylor’s absence, there are some question marks surrounding the availability of wide receiver Alec Pierce. Pierce, who is dealing with a shoulder injury, was able to participate in a full practice on Friday after sitting out on Thursday. His status for the upcoming game remains up in the air.
Receivers Josh Downs (toe) and Michael Pittman Jr. (back) are also dealing with injuries and are listed as questionable for the game. Downs missed a practice session earlier in the week and had limited participation in the others, while Pittman was able to put in a full practice on Thursday.
On the defensive side of the ball, cornerback Chris Lammons has been ruled out with an ankle injury. Meanwhile, defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo (hamstring), offensive tackle Braden Smith (knee), and linebacker E.J. Speed (knee) are all questionable for the game.
Despite the injury concerns, the Colts are staying focused and ready to take on their upcoming opponent. Richardson’s return provides a much-needed boost to the offense, and the team is confident that they have the depth to overcome the absence of Taylor and other key players.
As Reich put it, “We have a ‘next man up’ mentality here. We trust the guys in our locker room to step up and perform when their number is called. It’s all hands on deck for us, and we’re ready to rise to the challenge.”
