In the realm of American football, the iconic quarterback-turned-analyst, Tom Brady, now finds himself in uncharted territory this season. Rather than being on the field, leading a team in pursuit of Super Bowl glory, Brady is now stationed in the broadcast booth, providing insightful analysis for viewers on Fox Sports.
Partnered with play-by-play broadcaster Kevin Burkhardt, Brady has been calling Fox Sports’ top games each week during the 2024 NFL season. However, the games that Brady has covered so far have not been filled with the drama and excitement that many fans crave.
Reflecting on his experience, Brady shared on the Let’s Go! podcast, “All these games I’ve gone into—I’ve done seven games now. I’ve had six blowouts, essentially, and the home team has only won one game. I can’t wait until I get a home team [playing] in a close game and there’s a lot of juice in the stadium.”
Brady kicked off his broadcasting career by covering the first three games of the Dallas Cowboys’ season. Following that, he called the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ dominant performance against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4, as well as the Arizona Cardinals’ thrilling 24-23 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5. However, in the past two weeks, Brady has witnessed the Cowboys and 49ers being overpowered by the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs, respectively.
Out of all the games Brady has announced, only two have been decided by one possession. Even then, the close game between the Cowboys and the Ravens in Week 3 ended with a misleading score, as Dallas was facing a significant deficit before mounting a late comeback that fell short.
Despite the lack of nail-biters in the games he has called, Brady remains enthusiastic about his new role as a broadcaster. The transition from player to analyst has given him a fresh perspective on the sport he loves, and he continues to enjoy sharing his insights with football fans all over the world.
