Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is gearing up for his highly anticipated return to the gridiron this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Tagovailoa has been sidelined since September 12th due to a concussion, marking his fourth concussion in the past five years.
Despite concerns from many NFL figures calling for him to retire, Tagovailoa is determined to continue playing the sport he loves. His teammates, including wide receiver Tyreek Hill, are thrilled to have him back in the lineup. However, they are urging Tagovailoa to exercise caution on the field to avoid future head injuries. The Dolphins are emphasizing the importance of Tagovailoa improving his sliding technique to reduce the risk of concussions. Hill has even devised a plan to involve fans in promoting safe play.
“When we were up against the Colts, you could hear the fans applauding Anthony Richardson when he slid,” Hill told The Palm Beach Post. “I believe our fans should do the same for Tua, encourage him to slide.”
Running back Raheem Mostert also echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the team’s collective effort to impress upon Tagovailoa the importance of self-preservation on the field.
“We’ve been having conversations with him since his injury. I’ve been advising him to work on his sliding technique,” Mostert revealed. “While we may jest and joke about it, the underlying message is clear. Tua understands the need to protect himself better moving forward. Ultimately, he holds the key to his own safety.”
As Tagovailoa prepares to make his comeback, the football world eagerly anticipates his performance on Sunday and hopes to see him embrace a safer approach to the game.
