The Baltimore Ravens have recently unveiled a special helmet decal that will be worn throughout the season in memory of two beloved members of the organization who tragically passed away in the offseason.
The team will be paying tribute to former wide receiver Jacoby Jones, who sadly passed away in July, and former offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris, who left us last month. The decal, featuring the names Joe D. and Jacoby, along with Jones’s No. 12, will be prominently displayed on the back of the team’s helmets.
Head coach John Harbaugh expressed his sentiments about the tribute, stating, “Hopefully those helmet tags of Jacoby Jones and Joe D’Alessandris help to serve as a reminder to all of us that it’s about the people. It’s about the people in your life that you share this time on Earth with. Treat them right, cherish them, celebrate them, love them, and remember them.”
Jacoby Jones, who spent three memorable seasons with the Ravens, is fondly remembered for his incredible 70-yard catch that propelled the team to an overtime victory in a playoff game against the Broncos back in January 2013. Jones’s heroics didn’t end there, as he went on to score receiving and kickoff return touchdowns to help the Ravens secure a Super Bowl victory.
On the other hand, Joe D’Alessandris joined the Ravens coaching staff in 2017, bringing with him over 40 years of experience as a college and NFL coach.
The Ravens organization and fans alike will carry the memories of Jacoby Jones and Joe D’Alessandris in their hearts throughout the upcoming season, as they continue to honor their contributions to the team. May their legacies live on forever in the spirit and determination of the Baltimore Ravens.
