Devin White, the newly acquired linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles, will have to sit out the team’s upcoming game against the Green Bay Packers in Brazil. This news comes after White was limited in practice due to an ankle injury earlier in the week.
The Eagles made the announcement on Wednesday that White will not be making the trip to Sao Paolo for the game. White, who signed a one-year deal with the Eagles during the offseason, will have to wait until at least the second week of the regular season to make his debut with his new team. The former first-round pick spent the first five seasons of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before joining the Eagles.
White is the only player on the 53-man roster who will not be traveling with the team to Brazil. The team reported that cornerback Isaiah Rodgers would also have been limited in practice due to a hand injury, while wide receiver A.J. Brown and guard Landon Dickerson would have been full participants after resting on Tuesday.
In response to White’s absence, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson stated, “We’re disappointed that Devin won’t be able to play in this game, but we want to make sure he’s fully recovered before we put him back out on the field. He’s a big part of our defense and we want to make sure he’s healthy and ready to go when he does return.”
The Eagles will have to make adjustments to their defense in White’s absence, as they face a tough matchup against the Packers. Despite this setback, the team remains confident in their ability to perform at a high level and secure a victory in Brazil.
