In the world of American football, there are players who not only excel at their position, but also have a knack for getting under the skin of their opponents. One such player is Dallas Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis, who further solidified his reputation in last Sunday’s thrilling victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
During the game, Steelers receiver George Pickens lost his cool and grabbed Lewis by the facemask, throwing him to the ground in a fit of emotion. This kind of reaction is something that Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown can relate to. St. Brown recently recalled on his podcast a heated exchange with Lewis during a game last December, where Lewis was reportedly “talking crazy”. Lewis, on the other hand, seems ready to back up his words, stating this week, “we’re going to see what’s real and what’s not” when the two teams face off again this Sunday.
As the tension continues to build, St. Brown had some words of praise for Lewis on Thursday, referring to him as a “good player”. He also mentioned that any trash talk from Lewis only serves as motivation for him to step up and deliver a standout performance on game day. “Yeah, typically don’t get too involved,” St. Brown told Rainer Sabin of the Detroit Free Press. “I might say something back a little, but for the most part, it fires me up, gets me going. So, I love it.”
In their previous meeting, St. Brown managed to haul in six catches for 90 yards and a touchdown against Lewis and the Cowboys. A repeat of that outstanding performance, coupled with minimal issues for eligible receivers, could greatly enhance the Lions’ chances of securing a victory in Week Six. The stage is set for an intense showdown as these two fiery competitors prepare to go head-to-head once again. Stay tuned for what promises to be a thrilling clash on the gridiron.
