Last night’s showdown between the Denver Broncos and New Orleans Saints was nothing short of a one-sided affair. The competitive spirit was lacking, and it showed in the audience numbers.
The Amazon Prime broadcast saw a drop below 10 million viewers for the first time this season, coming in at 9.81 million. However, despite this dip, it still managed to outperform last year’s Week 7 Jaguars-Saints game on Thursday Night Football, which only drew 9.79 million viewers. Not to mention, the NFL game easily trumped postseason baseball in viewer numbers.
“It was a real stinker of a game,” one fan commented. “With the Saints dealing with injuries, there was really no competition.”
Many experts agree that the numbers for Broncos-Saints could have been much worse given the circumstances. Even with Sean Payton’s return to New Orleans, the lackluster performance on the field left much to be desired.
Looking ahead, the 5-0 Minnesota Vikings will be making their 2024 prime-time debut next Thursday as they take on the Los Angeles Rams. With a matchup between two strong teams, it is highly anticipated that this game will fare much better in terms of viewership compared to the disappointing Broncos-Saints game.
“It should be a much more exciting game,” said another fan. “I’m looking forward to seeing how the Vikings perform under the bright lights.”
