Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is on track to make his return to the field next week, as reported by The Athletic’s Diana Russini on Saturday. The hope is that Tagovailoa will be ready to play in the Dolphins’ Week 8 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals at Hard Rock Stadium. Tagovailoa’s practice window is set to open on Wednesday.
Tagovailoa has been sidelined for four games since suffering a concussion early in the Dolphins’ loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. The injury occurred during a scramble for a first down when he collided awkwardly with Bills safety Damar Hamlin. This has been at least the third concussion Tagovailoa has experienced in his NFL career, raising concerns about his health. However, the determined quarterback is eager to get back on the field and help his team.
The Dolphins have struggled in Tagovailoa’s absence, with their offense failing to score more than 15 points since their season-opening win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. As they prepare to face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7, Miami ranks 26th in passing yards per game and last in points per game in the league.
Miami will kick off against the Colts at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium, hoping to secure a win before Tagovailoa’s potential return in Week 8. The quarterback’s comeback could provide a much-needed spark for the struggling Dolphins offense.
