In the world of American football, all eyes are on Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson as he continues to trend towards a return for Sunday’s game against the Titans. Richardson, who has been dealing with an oblique injury, showed promising signs as he was upgraded to a full participant in Thursday’s practice after being limited the day before.
The second-year QB was forced to sit out last Sunday’s game against Jacksonville after sustaining the injury in Week 4’s matchup with Pittsburgh. Throughout Week 5, Richardson was limited in all three practices but he expressed optimism on Wednesday, stating that he was feeling “way better” than he did the previous week.
However, if Richardson is unable to suit up on Sunday, the Colts may have to turn to veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to lead the team. While Richardson’s status is looking positive, the team is facing challenges on other fronts.
Running back Jonathan Taylor, who is dealing with an ankle injury, was still unable to practice. In addition, receivers Josh Downs (toe) and Michael Pittman Jr. (back) remained sidelined, with Pittman reportedly set to miss multiple weeks due to his back injury. Cornerback Kenny Moore, dealing with hip and shoulder issues, was downgraded from limited to did not participate (DNP) in practice.
On a brighter note, running back Trey Sermon (collarbone) and offensive tackle Braden Smith (knee, ankle) were both upgraded from DNP to full participants in practice. Center Ryan Kelly, who has been dealing with a neck injury, remained a full participant in practice.
As the Colts prepare for their upcoming game against the Titans, the status of Richardson and the rest of the team’s key players remains uncertain. Fans will have to wait and see how the injury report unfolds leading up to Sunday’s showdown.
