The New York Giants are off to a rough start this season, losing both of their first two games. Quarterback Daniel Jones has been under scrutiny for his lackluster performances, especially in Week 1 where he threw two interceptions.
Despite cleaning up his game in Week 2, Jones still couldn’t lead the Giants to a victory against the Washington Commanders. As the team prepares for an important Week 3 matchup, Jones sought advice from former Giants quarterback Eli Manning.
Manning, speaking to Sports Illustrated’s Claudette Montana on behalf of King’s Hawaiian, had some words of wisdom for Jones. “Look at your mechanics, trust the system, get back there and let it rip,” Manning advised. “In this league, you can’t be scared about making mistakes. They may happen…if you got someone open on your first read, you’ve got to let it rip.”
Critics have been harsh on Jones in the early part of the season, with some even calling for him to be benched. Manning understands the pressure and constant scrutiny that comes with playing quarterback in New York, having experienced it for 16 seasons during his career.
As the Giants look to bounce back against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Manning and the rest of the fan base will be hoping that Jones can turn things around and lead the team to victory. The spotlight will be on Jones as he looks to prove his doubters wrong and silence the critics.
