In the world of American football, controversy often rears its head, and this time it involves Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson. A Pro Bowl selection in 2023, Johnson was left scratching his head after seeing Aaron Rodgers, who barely saw the field for the New York Jets before a devastating injury, make the NFL’s Top 100 list over him.
At the Bears’ training camp site at PNC Center at Halas Hall in Lake Forest, Ill., Johnson didn’t hold back when speaking to reporters. His frustration was palpable as he expressed his disbelief at being snubbed from the list, calling it "bull****."
"It’s bull****," Johnson exclaimed, visibly shaking his head. "There ain’t no way. I don’t know how you make Pro Bowl, All-Pro and not a top 100 guy? I could have been 101, I guess. Aaron Rodgers didn’t even play this season and he was voted."
The young cornerback didn’t mince words as he continued, "Everybody makes mistakes, it ain’t just the media that do it. The players, clearly, if they voted for it, they made some god**** mistakes but it is what it is. Any day I know the truth and it’s ok."
But Johnson wasn’t finished. "I got some more for them," he added defiantly.
Selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft, Johnson had a stellar season in 2023, showcasing his skills with 36 combined tackles, 10 passes defended, and four interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. His performance earned him the title of highest-graded cornerback in the NFL by Pro Football Focus. Clearly, Johnson’s talent speaks for itself, and he won’t let a seemingly arbitrary list tarnish his accomplishments.
